VIREI VIRAL 2013
Virei Viral is an annual exhibition on the so called “cyberculture,” which features the diversity of possible approaches when the digital and hypertextual universes is understood as a cultural phenomenon, much more than simply a technological one. In each edition the project will bring a new curatorial approach.
The project began in 2013 at CCBB RJ. More than 120 thousand people visited the exhibition in its first edition, which was indicated twice in the Top 5 of the “Veja Rio” magazine.
The reverberation of digital culture in contemporary culture makes us think of several possible topics for the future editions: the space x time relation; the widespread ubiquity, the theory of the actor-network, the advancement of human-machine relations, hypertextuality, the relation of integration × dispersion — and many other impacting issues in contemporary culture — are the object of interest of the curatorial collective of the Virei Viral.
The exhibition turns into experience the constant research of the M’Baraká studio on the influence of the new media upon contemporary culture and communication, generating important insights and pointing towards trends through the eyes of various artists, thinkers, storytellers and installations.
