MOSTRA A VOZ DO POVO
The city is full of stories, trivia and memories that are scattered in every corner as statues, buildings, squares, streets and other places. The show Voz do Povo — Memórias do Rio em Ditos took place at the urban space, and told some historical memories of Rio through installations scattered across the city. The project related popular sayings and historical content of 10 sites in the city of Rio de Janeiro, exposing them in urban interventions created by the M’Baraká studio.
The show disclosed and popularized stories and unknown curiosities about places like: Praça Paris (Paris Square), Museu da República (Museum of the Republic), Praça XV (XV square), Largo do Machado and Lapa. Highly impacting interventions were developed, among them: A huge poster-bomber intervention at the XV Square’s viaduct with an image that alluded to the exploitation of the slave’s force and the consequent pain and sequel that marks the history of Brazil.
The project raised a media return 10 times larger than its cost and ran for a month in September 2010 and was sponsored by Estácio de Sá University. Since then, historical communication is a recurring theme in the researches of M’Baraká studio. We seek new partnerships to repeat the project in other areas of the city.
